Since 2004 Dr Turner has also worked with the Centre for Brain and Mental Health Research at the University of Newcastle on projects looking at screening and treatment of depression in patients with cardiovascular disease.  Through this work she has coordinated evaluating group cognitive behaviour therapy programs for people with depression who have heart disease or have had a stroke.  She is also investigating electronic screening of depression symptoms in these patient populations.  Her role in the Heart Research Centre will allow her to expand on this work as well as being involved in other projects that will ultimately lead to an improvement in the psychological and health outcomes of people with cardiovascular disease.
