Dr Peter Elliott - Statistician

Dr Peter Elliott assists the Centre with the statistical analysis of research data. A particular interest of his is the application of new approaches to the analysis of longitudinal data. Dr Elliott has extensive experience in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of statistical information.

Dr Elliott provides high level advice on statistical analysis and research design for the preparation of papers for publication in both domestic and international journals and for the presentation of papers at national and international conferences. His role is to work alongside researchers and clinicians in the reporting of the results of treatment outcome and other studies.

He has served for years as a statistical reviewer for the internationally recognised Journal of Traumatic Stress. One of Peter's passions is teaching, which has resulted in several university appointments, focused primarily on psychology, quantitative methods, or a combination of both. In addition, he has supervised the research endeavours of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

His statistical acumen led him to complete a PhD in quantitative psychology at The University of Melbourne in 2000. His area of study was the development and application of a new family of statistical models to analyse data in situations where existing statistical techniques were inadequate.

He is an honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne's Department of Psychiatry.
